On your mark, get set, go! Last fall, race cars like this one zoomed nearly 1,900 miles across Australia without a single drop of gas. More than 40 cars competed in the World Solar Challenge.
The race cars were covered in solar panels. The panels turn sunlight into energy to power the vehicles. The goal of the race was to promote renewable sources of energy, like sunlight. Renewable resources never run out, and they don’t create pollution, like the fuels used to power most vehicles do.
Each team designed its own car for the race. What would your race car look like?
